Workshops
Safira is available for the following workshops:
Light it Up!
“Light it Up!”, a 2 hour workshop, delves into the world of fire dancing. The first part of this workshop will cover the most important topic of fire dance safety and students completing the workshop will receive a certificate of completion for fire safety procedures. Then we’ll delve into our first fire prop: hand candles. Students will need to bring tea light holders that they find comfortable to hold in their palms (or fire palms if you already have them!) and an adventurous spirit!
Improve your Improv: Improvisational Dance for Scaredy-Cats
Feel a paralyzing fear at even the thought of dancing without choreography? Join Safira to explore shapes and concepts to remove the fear from improvisational dancing. Learn how to spontaneously express yourself, move through mistakes with confidence, and techniques to help you find inspiration to keep the ideas flowing as you dance. Appropriate for all levels.
Balancing Act: An introduction to Balanced Props
This workshop focuses on the introduction of balanced props. There will be discussion on what to consider when choosing balanced props, exercises and postures to improve balance and strength, basic balance points, standing movements, traveling steps, floorwork, spins and turns, and more. Fluidity and Grace with Slow and Deliberate Movement
Explore your sensual side with slow and deliberate movements. Learn to move with grace and fluidity as we break down figure 8’s, ommis, hip circles, snake arms, undulations, and more. All experience levels welcome.

Add a new level to your dance and display your skill and strength with floor work! This workshop will cover warm ups and conditioning exercises; how to descend to the floor with fluidity and grace; seated movements, back layouts, side layouts, traveling, and more; how to ascend back to standing with poise; and advice on how to deal with snafus.
